Deciding how to move forward with an offering that hasn't yet found its fit is difficult.

Recently, we reflected on Scoir’s mobile apps for Android, and decided that they’ve reached the end of their journey. Beginning September 17, 2021, all Scoir apps for Android will be discontinued and removed from the Google Play Store, making them unavailable for new downloads. This includes:

If you already have a Scoir app for Android, you may continue using it, but we will no longer be providing ongoing updates or support for these offerings.

We know that for some of you, this may not feel like good news and we are sorry to create frustration for you. We’d like to share with you our thought process to help explain how we came to this decision.

Why are we discontinuing Scoir's apps for Android?

We created our mobile apps in order to make it easier for all parties to take their college planning journey with them, wherever they went. However, it has become clear to us that our Android apps see low usage and we project continued low adoption. In support of our goal to maintain the highest level of customer support across all Scoir offerings, the decision to retire the Scoir Android apps became clear.

What happens now?

If you or anyone you know still uses any of the Scoir apps for Android, we’d like to remind you that you can still access Scoir from any desktop or from a mobile browser at: https://app.scoir.com/signin

After September 17, the above-listed apps will no longer be available in the Google Play Store for new downloads. If you already have a Scoir app for Android, you may continue using it, but we will no longer be providing ongoing updates or support for these offerings.

A note:

To be clear, while the Scoir apps for Android will be discontinued, the Scoir app for iOS is still available for your students.

What’s next?

We feel passionately about making the college search experience easier and more understandable for students and families. We’re hopeful that this decision will affect only a small portion of our community, and that it will help us to focus on providing the best experience possible across The Network.

We’re already looking ahead to new opportunities to build tools that empower students to discover, plan for, and attend the college that is their best fit. Any feedback or thoughts at all are always welcome!
