• Why is Scoir making this change now?

  YouScience recently informed us that it has decided to terminate free access to its career assessment for Scoir users.

  Fortunately, due to much feedback we’ve received from the counselor community, we had already invested a lot of time and effort researching better alternatives for career assessment, matching, and exploration and have been working on an integration with PrinciplesYou.

  While we did not intend to make a transition during the academic year, we have been left with no choice except to accelerate our planned introduction of PrinciplesYou.

• When will YouScience no longer be included with Scoir?

  If you were a Scoir customer with YouScience enabled on or before December 6, 2022, you and your students will retain access to YouScience until June 30, 2023. That includes students who have already created a YouScience account and those who have not yet created a YouScience account.
  
  Access to YouScience has been disabled for all new Scoir customers effectively immediately. If your school was not an active Scoir customer as of December 6, 2022, we are no longer able to provide you access to YouScience.

• Can I continue using YouScience after it's no longer available in Scoir?

  If you’d like to use YouScience with your students, you’ll need to contract directly with YouScience. We're still determining whether the YouScience integration will be available in Scoir.

• Why did Scoir choose PrinciplesYou?

  PrinciplesYou is a modern way to engage Gen Z students about careers. Envisioned and funded by entrepreneur investor Ray Dalio and created by world-renowned psychometricians Dr. Adam Grant, Dr. Brian Little, and Dr. John Golden, the tool brings student assessments into the 21st century because its framework is designed to tap into character traits.
  
  Older assessments tend to focus on current job interests or suitability, which can be one-dimensional when trying to make decisions about the future. This new assessment measures traits across three orientations: 

  • Cognitive

  • Interpersonal

  • Motivational

  PrinciplesYou helps students better understand their tendencies, and how they’ll react and operate in relation to others in the classroom and workforce. In-depth reports can be shared with you, as counselors, to help you better guide students through the college search and discovery process.   

• Isn't PrinciplesYou for workplaces? Why would we use this in our schools?

  We’re excited about the partnership with PrinciplesYou and proud to be the first college and career readiness platform to bring this powerful tool to schools across the country. 
  
  Because PrinciplesYou is designed for the modern workforce that students will be joining, this assessment will give them a better understanding of how they’ll fit into that space, how jobs truly match their tendencies, and how they can work with different personalities in different fields. 

  The pioneering work being done by PrinciplesYou is closely aligned with the works of Character Lab and Making Caring Common.

• Can we see PrinciplesYou?

  We’re still working to complete the integration work with PrinciplesYou, so you can’t see it just yet. But, you’ll get an announcement as soon as it’s available!

• Will Scoir still have a career inventory?

  Yes! Students will still have access to a career inventory in the interim so that students can explore and learn about different career pathways.
